Aki Mother, pronounced ah-key, which means "earth" in Chippewa was formed by George Mason University grad student Vicky Troy in 2003. Along with three other music undergrad students Jonathan Blazer, Cristian Perez and former band member Meg Nicolas.
Aki Mother has become Washington DC's premier urban indigenous fusion band performing for Native American month, cultural and pro peace/environmental events and spiritual gatherings.
